Mosquito

yesterday

it would’ve been easy

to put my thumb on you

press down hard

watch the spurt of blood

flick you away

and wash my red fingers

today

I watch you hover

at the sink

looking for water

my hand trembles

as I admire

your long legs

delicate wings

your life

precious as mine

Ultimate Relationship 9:30 am

The other day I was thinking about writing a book on marriage. My son is moving in with his girlfriend and I was thinking of all the hard learning and joy I’ve had in my 25 plus years with my second husband. I was joking with my husband about a title: Complementary Marriage. He asked, "Does that mean I get more compliments." How do you complement and compliment others? Today I plan to compliment my husband more … not just lip service but heart compliments.

Relaxation 9:22 am

I’ve taught stress management for years and what I’ve finally boiled it down to is self-compassion. There is no situation that warrants our critical voice to harp at us like a hammer on a nail. Think about what stresses you and you’ll first think it may be outside yourself. Look a little deeper and see if you know what I mean. Daily … I watch myself cause stress where there is truly only a place for love.
