The following is from Paula’s email to me about the group called Mama na Dada. http://www.mamadada.org/ Mama na Dada was formed in 1999 by Joyce Oneko to help girls and women empower themselves. I met her during a fund raising talk she gave here in Tucson in 2003. I have never met a person like her. She is the type of story you like to see on 60 Minutes or Oprah Winfrey. She gives new meaning to words like self-sacrificing, courageous, persevering. She, along with her husband have single handedly changed the lives of thousands of people, first using their own savings and when it was depleted, continuing through "grass roots funding". This "grass roots" funding began when Elizabeth S., a woman from Palm Springs, heard Joyce speak and decided to drive her across the Southwest, to speak to every friend Elizabeth could think of, bringing people together in living rooms and churches. In this way, Joyce continued to fund projects that are literally saving lives every day on less than a shoestring budget. The following are articles that clearly define the woman and her project, Mama na Dada Africa. Paula B., Tucson, AZ Interesting articles: http://www.zoominfo.com/people/Oneko_Joyce_313805270.aspx
