Sondra in a Thai prisonMarch 27, 2007 10:10 pm

I just received an email from one of Sondra’s friends saying that Sondra had called her and that she is being moved tonight or tomorrow. She did not know where she was going.

On Saturday I received 2 letters from Sondra. Her last letter from Thailand and her first from LA. I cried when I read this paragraph about arriving in LA:

"The first night here I had my first hot shower in 5 years. I was finished in 3 min. I had to stop and start over, tell myself it was okay to stand there under the hot water and take my time. The women here complain. I only wish my friends were in here." flower

I will keep you posted. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your prayers and letters for Sondra.

mailboxesI just received another letter from Sondra and she is SURPRISED. She is receiving your letters and is sharing your inspirational words with other women (6,000 in the prison). A man from New Mexico said that he’d be in Thailand in January and has offered to bring her books. My friend, Ellen, has sent her some of poetry. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart. buddha

If you send out holiday cards, please consider sending her one. Or perhaps a postcard from your local area. Or a newspaper clipping. Or an inspirational quote.

turtleI just received a letter written in July answering my letter of May. It is a slow process. I had sent her a visual meditation wheel and she tells me that she is "working hard on trying not to react to everything that happens, not to take the ups and downs to personally". flower

Recently the King gave "(amnesty) off the sentences of drug cases. I received 5 years + the 4 I’ve done, only 21 more years. The Princess made a visit to the prison. She gave money to build the library, outside is a sign, saying among other "facts" there are 9, 861 books in the library. I counted the English books, 51.Many I donated myself. There were a few more but the library was cleaned up. Many English books were ? We suspect sold. Outside the library is posted a sign with the women who have read the most, out of 50 women; I am the only foreigner at #14. This does not count the books my friends and I share around. 89 books this year. flower 4

If anyone is going to Thailand and wants to visit Sondra, please go to the US embassy and they will give her a pass to visit her in the Embassy Room at the prison. "There is no waiting, the room is air conditioned and the visits are 1 hour. The other room has 1 1/2 hour wait for 20 minutes and it’s outside for the visitors. Everyone yells and it’s not nice."

Thank you all again for sending prayers and thoughts to Sondra. If you want to write her, please do: flower 5
